MERI became ‘Electronica’ award winner

MERI JSC, the leading research center and a part of Element electronics holding became the winner of the first independent business award Electronica, held within the 23rd international exhibition of electronic modules and components "ExpoElectronica 2021".

MERI participated in the award for the first time and won the first place in the nomination “For contribution in development of nano- and microelectronics production technologies”. Professionals, including top managers, engineers and experts of leading Russian companies, highly evaluated the latest MERI’s developments: a 64-bit microcontroller based on the 64-bit NE64RV core and a prototype of a universal 32-bit microcontroller with a RISC-V core.

The 64-bit microcontroller can be used in secure IoT devices, telecommunications, electronics and household appliances that use electronic control and monitoring systems, smart home devices.

The prototype of a universal 32-bit microcontroller is actually a set of IP-blocks, coprocessors, encryption modules and interfaces. This allows engineers to configure the required product, taking into account the customer’s requirements, and do it quickly. Based on the prototype, secure chips can be developed for electronic and identification documents, SIM cards, bank cards, IoT microcontrollers, security elements, etc.

The Chief designer of MER JSC Alexander Kravtsov said: “We are grateful to the industry experts for the high assessment of our work and our team. The new microcontrollers will effectively replace imported microcircuits in a wide range of embedded systems, including vital infrastructure facilities, and will also enable Russian developers to use trusted national solutions.

The Electronica Award is an annual event aimed at supporting and promoting the best examples of enterprise performance improvement, sales growth, innovation, marketing strategies, human resources management in the electronics industry and related fields. The award was established by ExpoElectronica and ElectronTechExpo with the support of the Association of Developers and Manufacturers of Electronics.

The purpose of the award is to identify industry leaders and present the best solutions and outstanding results to a wide audience of specialists. 15 nominees were nominated for the award in 6 categories: "Micro and nanoelectronics", "Localization of production in Russia", "Power electronics", "Contract manufacturing and development", "Russian distributors of equipment and representative offices of foreign companies", "Russian distributors of EC".
