G. Kraskinov made a report on microelectronics at the meeting with President Vladimir Putin

The head of Molecular Electronics Research Institute (MERI) Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov made a report on the actual situation and opportunities of national microelectronics industry at the meeting, which was held on March 20 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting was attended by government officials and electronics manufacturers. A report was also made by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.
Opening the meeting, Vladimir Putin said that in the age of rapid development of technologies and digitalization of all spheres, the microelectronic industry plays a special, key role: "our own developments and mass production of microelectronics products are the guarantee of our technological and technical sovereignty, the basis for innovative development of the economy and increasing its competitiveness."
The President of Russia turned the attention to the fact that in 2013 Russian Federation has implemented the state program "Development of the Electronic and Radioelectronic Industry for 2013-2025", in terms of which more than 62 billion roubles have been allocated from the federal budget to solve scientific, technical, and technological problems. And over 35 billion roubles were attracted as extrabudgetary funds. "This increased the competitiveness of the industry and allowed to increase the output of radio electronics in 3.5 times in five years," added Vladimir Putin.
The head of State underlined that " for the effective development of microelectronics we need an integrated, long-term strategy and action plan that provides specific measures to strengthen existing and establish new industries, as well as more active introduction of Russian products both on the domestic and foreign markets," and noted the need to "adress the issue of the formation of a national competence center that will determine the priority technological directions for the development of microelectronics."
"Obviously, without government support, without orders from state companies it is difficult to ensure the stable enterprises operations at the initial stages. Therefore, it is important to rapidly develop mechanisms that will help to increase the capacity utilization rate", - Vladimir Putin said.
