General Director of MERI, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mikron, Head of the Priority Technological Area for Electronic Technologies in the Russian Federation, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov demonstrated to Denis Manturov the research and production facilities of the enterprises and their high-tech microelectronic products.
The enterprises produce microchips for the high-tech radio-electronic industry, automotive electronics, identification documents, bank cards, RFID solutions, and transport tickets and cards. The cleanroom infrastructure ensures continuous chip production (supply of electricity, chemicals, and gases to the production equipment, as well as continuous ventilation and climate control systems).
Denis Manturov was also shown the design center of MERI, which is engaged in the development of information security products, integrated circuits, RFID products, embedded software, and much more. The center's expertise also includes the development of systems for designing and modeling radio-electronic products.
"Microelectronics is one of the most science-intensive and capital-intensive industries, and it requires the development of materials, production tools, and CAD systems. In order to comprehensively address this issue on a national scale, work is being carried out in all these areas, " said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
As Academician Gennady Krasnikov of the Russian Academy of Sciences emphasized, "I proposed this model of comprehensive support for the development of the microelectronics industry at a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences on April 12, which focused on the interaction between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian industry in the current circumstances. This was reflected in the resolution issued by the Presidium. It involves the development and implementation of programs for the development of microelectronic technologies, electronic engineering, and special materials and design systems in technological chains along the full cycle from fundamental research to the creation and implementation of production technologies, with the participation and coordination of organizations under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Russian Academy of Sciences."
