MERI at the foresight forum «Voronezh Microelectronics in the National Scientific and Production Complex»

On November 16-17, 2022 the Voronezh State University hosted the foresight forum "Voronezh Microelectronics in the National Scientific and Production Complex." The panel discussion focused on the prospects for the development of Russian microelectronics, which is a crucial factor in achieving technological sovereignty.

Expert speakers in the field of microelectronics discussed the prospects for the development of individual areas. Within the framework of the forum, with the support of MERI, a personnel platform was organized, which presented current solutions for the development of the human resources potential of the microelectronics industry and the assessment of specialists’ qualifications. In the scientific and technical program of the forum, representatives of MERI made presentations.

Anton Shishlyannikov, Head of the Materials Research and Testing Laboratory at MERI, gave a presentation on the topic: "Technologies and Materials at MERI". Representatives of MERI (Vladimir Ivanov, Deputy head of the department – Head of the laboratory and German Karnup, researcher,) also spoke at the round table “Innovative Developments of Universities in the Voronezh Region for the Benefit of the Microelectronics Industry” and presented information about MERI’s innovative developments. Alexey Kuzovkov, a leading engineer at the RET Solutions Laboratory of MERI, presented a report titled "Promising Directions for CAD Development at MERI" at the foresight session "Information Technologies in Microelectronics: Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and Software".

Anatoly Volosov, Head of the Integrated Modules Laboratory and Head of the Department at MERI, participated in the foresight session "Microelectronics in Modern Communications and Electronic Warfare" with a presentation on "Development of the Microwave Electronics Component Base at MERI".

Liliana Polikarpova, Deputy General Director for Organizational Development and Human Resources at MERI, Head of the Qualification Assessment Center at MERI, gave a presentation with a presentation "Using Independent Qualification Assessment Tools in the Development of Industry-Specific Education" at the roundtable "Human Resources for the Microelectronics Industry".

Liliana Polikarpova emphasized that MERI has a wide range of competencies, including the design of integrated circuits, the development of embedded software, and the conduct of fundamental and exploratory research. MERI has a wide educational structure, including a training center, a qualification assessment center, and basic departments in leading industry-specific universities. Over the years, MERI has accumulated a knowledge base and developed a methodology for implementing independent qualification assessment tools in the personnel processes of research and production companies. New professional standards for industry workers have been developed and approved and steps have been taken to bring the education system and the labor market closer together.

Natalia Sadkova, Head of Educational Projects at MERI, noted that the task of improving the qualifications of industry specialists is successfully implemented based on the training center at MERI. As part of her presentation "Network Educational Programs," N. Sadkova presented one of the products of the training center, an industry-specific educational program for specialists in the field of microelectronics.

The Foresight Forum concluded with an independent assessment of the qualifications of the Voronezh State University students and faculty members by the Qualification Assessment Center of MERI, with the participation of potential employers. During the visit to Voronezh, the delegation from MERI demonstrated a new laboratory being created at the Chemistry Department of the Voronezh State University as part of the national project "Science and Universities". In the laboratory, scientists will study organic additives for chemical and electrochemical deposition processes of metals and alloys used in the electronics industry. The scientific department will focus on achieving practically important results for the development of domestic microelectronics. The opening of a laboratory at the Voronezh State University was supported by such real sector organizations as MERI, The Scientific Research Institute of Electronics, and VZPP-MIKRON Voronezh.
