The Scientific Council “Quantum Technologies” was created under the RAS Presidium
According to a resolution of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) dated June 2, on the proposal of the Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies (ONIT RAS), the Scientific Council “Quantum Technologies” was created under the RAS Presidium. General director of MER JSC, member of the RAS Presidium, academician-secretary of ONIT RAS, academicianGennady Krasnikov was appointed the chairman of the Council.
The purpose of creating the council is to assist the Russian Academy of Sciences in implementing the tasks assigned by the federal law "About the Russian Academy of Sciences, reorganizing state academies of sciences and amending certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation."
The Council is a consultative, scientific advisory and coordinating expert body of the RAS in the field of fundamental quantum technology research which are aimed at solving urgent problems and tasks throughout the list of areas of these studies.
The Council’s activities will be carried out in collaboration with RAS science branches, regional branches of the RAS, structural units of the RAS Presidium, as well as in information cooperation with state authorities, scientific organizations and educational organizations of higher education of the Russian Federation.
The Presidium of the RAS formulated the tasks of the Council. Among the priorities are the coordination of basic research on quantum technologies, participation in organizing the interaction of the RAS with relevant ministries and departments of the Russian Federation in the field of fundamental research on quantum technologies, the preparation and submission to the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and state authorities of annual analyzes of the status and prospects (forecasts) of the realization of fundamental research on quantum technologies in the Russian Federation and abroad.
The Council should take part in international work coordination in the field of fundamental research on quantum technologies, as well as in the expert evaluation of the results obtained during fundamental research on quantum technologies as well as formulate recommendations for their use in other fields of science and technology.
The Council is meant to inform the Russian scientific community about the plans and results of fundamental research on quantum technologies, to consider the use of the potential of scientific and educational organizations in implementing the program of fundamental research on quantum technologies.
The Council Bureau members are: the chairman of the council, academician, member of the RAS Presidium, academician-secretary of ONIT RAS G.Ya. Krasnikov, Deputy Chairmen Academician A.A. Gorbatsevich and Academician A.S. Holevo; as well as academicians E.B. Alexandrov, S.N. Bagaev, I.A. Kalyaev, V.V. Kveder, V.I. Konov, A.V. Latyshev, V.Ya. Panchenko, V.I. Pustovoit, R.A. Suris.
Corresponding members of the RAS that are represented in the Bureau of the Council: I.V. Volovich, E.S. Gornev, N.N. Kolachevsky, Z.F. Krasilnik, S.V. Lyulin, Yu.G. Makhlin. Among the members of the Bureau of the Council and Ph.D.: Yu.I. Bogdanov, S.P. Kulik, S.N. Molotkov, A.V. Ustinov, E.B. Feldman, as well as the scientific secretary of the Bureau of the Council, Ph.D. O.A. Telminov.
“Today quantum computing and quantum simulators, quantum cryptography and quantum sensors are developing quite rapidly. To coordinate basic research in this direction, we have formulated proposals for scientific council under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences,” explained academician G. Ya. Krasnikov.
